Trudi Reppi grew up on the shore of Lake Ontario — Sodus Point, Wayne County, area code 315. Sodus Central, class of '94. A mother at seventeen. Everyone expected her to stay and pick apples; she packed a duffel bag and followed the tie-dye buses instead.
For ten years she lived on the Grateful Dead lot — Shakedown Street, Buckeye Lake, Alpine Valley, the RFK lawn — out of the back of a rusted Dodge van, twisting copper wire and glass beads into the bracelets that were her whole bank account. That is where they started calling her Tinkerbell. No rent, no landlords, no clocks on the wall.
When the caravan thinned out she went back to Rochester and did the honest thing: business administration, a 3.1 GPA, a second son, Eli Angel, born at Highland Hospital in March 2011. Then the detour — one small hit to quiet the pain, and the city took the rest. Hell's Kitchen, 317 West 45th Street, winters spent in a vestibule with the battery at four percent, the phrase she still uses for it: bloody brick out.
She pulled Rick back from the edge four times. The night she wasn't there, he let go. Grief was supposed to finish her; instead she poured the poison down a bathroom drain on March 6, 2023 and never picked it up again — the date she calls the birthday of the woman you see today. The years since have not been gentle: a friend on a ventilator with a police officer posted at the door, a sentence served in Connecticut, news of another brother's death arriving through a smuggled phone call while she was locked down. In May 2025 she walked out of the gate clean, straight and unbroken.
Today she is the Tip Jar Queen — the street musician of Midtown's Hudson Yards corridor, a copper-wire crown, a glass jar, thirty winters of New York in a raw alto voice. Her first album, Blood, Concrete & Steel, is her own story in ten chapters, written from her letters, messages and records of 2010–2026 and produced with Christopher Shane Johns at Beatriful. It premieres on September 26, 2026 — her fiftieth birthday. A second volume, the lighter side of the same life, is being written now. And the film is coming.
"You can lock away my body, but you'll never touch my soul."
