Daughter of the Emperor (Helena)
Olha sails to Constantinople with her retinue, is received by Constantine VII in the Magnaura and seated with the imperial family, and takes the Christian name Helena. Fact: the two receptions (9 September and 18 October), the forty-three merchants, the priest Gregory and the five hundred silver miliaresia on a gold dish are in the emperor's own ceremonial book De Ceremoniis; Byzantine chroniclers confirm she was baptised. Disputed: the year (957 is the common date; some argue 946) and whether the baptism happened in Constantinople or earlier in Kyiv; De Ceremoniis does not mention a baptism and a priest already travelled with her. The song sings the Chronicle's version and says the Greeks do not mention it.
